Who Wins the Rest of the Match? Meaning in Betting (Simple Guide + Examples)

The betting option “Who wins the rest of the match?” refers to which team will score more goals from the moment you place the bet until the final whistle.

Important: The current score does not matter for this market. The bet only counts goals scored after the bet is placed.

How It Works

When you place this bet during a live match, the sportsbook resets the score to 0–0 from that moment and only counts the goals scored in the remaining time.
Example: Liverpool vs Manchester City

Imagine a live match between Liverpool F.C. and Manchester City F.C..

Current Situation (Minute 60)

Score: Liverpool 4-0 Manchester City

At this moment, you place a bet on “Who wins the rest of the match?”

For this betting market, the score is now considered:

0 – 0 starting from minute 60.

What Happens Next?

From minute 60 until the end:

Manchester City scores 2 goals

Liverpool scores 0 goals

The match finally ends:

Liverpool 4 – 2 Manchester City

Liverpool wins the match overall.

But What About the Bet?

For the “rest of the match” market, only goals after minute 60 are counted:

Liverpool: 0 goals

Manchester City: 2 goals

Result for this betting option:

Manchester City wins the rest of the match.

✅ Winning bet: Manchester City
❌ Losing bet: Liverpool

Even though Liverpool wins the match 4–2, Manchester City wins the rest of the match (2–0).

Key Lesson

The “Who wins the rest of the match?” market ignores the goals scored before the bet was placed. It only counts what happens after that moment.
